EMPOWERING VOICES: OUR JOURNEY WITH SUSWA TIMES: A Glimpse into Student-Run Journalism at Dehradun Hills Academy.

When I joined my school, one of the most exciting opportunities was contributing to our student-run magazine, Suswa Times. This magazine is entirely managed by students—from writing and design to photography and editing. It prepares us for the forefront of technology and the digital world.

When I joined my school, one of the most exciting opportunities was contributing to our student-run magazine, Suswa Times. This magazine is entirely managed by students—from writing and design to photography and editing. It prepares us for the forefront of technology and the digital world.

Suswa Times is a testament to student initiative. We handle everything: writing, designing, photography, and even editing. Our monthly magazine records school outings, podcasts, workshops, and the various opportunities our students receive. I feel incredibly fortunate to have had the chance to write articles, create podcasts, deliver speeches, and sometimes anchor events.

Such opportunities might not have come my way at other schools. My first article, about my boarding school experience, was written like an essay. Seeing it in print for the first time was thrilling and incredibly motivating.

After the vacations, Suswa Times was formally introduced to the students. We formed dedicated teams for the magazine and podcasting, diving into numerous topics. This initiative, part of our digital media activities, encompassed podcasting, photography, and video production. On Founder's Day, our digital media team was busy podcasting, making videos, and taking photos. All these efforts were showcased in Suswa Times. Students demonstrated their learning and abilities, with everything documented in the magazine.

Our school management ensures these opportunities are available to all students, regardless of their age or class, allowing talent to shine. The inclusiveness of this initiative is one of its greatest strengths, fostering a sense of community and collaboration among students. Writing articles and producing podcasts have helped me articulate my thoughts and boosted my confidence. Now, if someone asks about my podcasting experience, I can proudly share my journey. This involvement has not only improved my technical skills but also my ability to express myself clearly and effectively. Recently, we released the fifth edition of Suswa Times, marking the last edition for this academic session. It was a proud moment for me as part of the editorial team. Our esteemed Chairperson, Mr. Sandeep Puran Singh, and Mrs. Seema Puran Singh graced the edition's launch. Mrs. Seema Puran Singh shared her life journey and spoke about Suswa Times. The event concluded with the unveiling of the new edition, photo sessions, and a memorable evening for everyone involved.

The success of this edition was a collective effort, showcasing the hard work and dedication of every team member. It was a fitting end to an incredible year, leaving us all eagerly anticipating the next session of Suswa Times. Participating in Suswa Times has been an enriching experience, providing invaluable skills and memories that I will cherish forever. It has been a journey of learning and growth, helping us prepare for the future in the digital world.
