I am Lobsang Sherap, a Tawang resident from Arunachal Pradesh. I would like to share my experience of a transformative journey when I enrolled as a boarder at Dehradun Hills Academy. As I complete my first month, I reflect on my gradual adjustment and the bonds I forged in this vibrant community. The transition to boarding life wasn't seamless, but I found solace in the camaraderie of my peers and the supportive environment fostered by the school. Engaging in various programs and outings not only broaden my horizons but also helped me overcome homesickness.

My first day was little hayward since I didn't know what to expect as a boarder, what to follow, where to find different building blocks meant for residential and academic sittings and functioning. There were many innumerable questions and doubts shadowing my mind that later were addressed by the residential teachers and staff. Gradually the clouds of doubts started vanishing and clarity dawned upon me. When I saw other students, it felt like that I am an alien from some different planet who is being watched for his some hidden agenda. But once I was introduced as a senior student by our house master Mr. Mohit Singh, the situation became amiable. All the students approached me and they were curious to know about my place, culture, my likings, dislikes, hobbies and all other aspects related to my life. I was very selective in sharing the sought after information. It took me a period of 3-4 days to get adjusted to a new settings.

After the gestation period, I started getting comfortable as I almost knew most of the boarders and residential staff at the campus. It took me long to be aware of all the routine of the school. I participated in various academic and extra-curricular activities within this short period of time. I became part of many outings, adventure trips, education tours. I also took French classes which was wonderful having an opportunity to learn international language. I also took lessons in shooting and swimming. Having different classes like PD class, spoken class. I was also mentored by our director sir in the field of understanding about various business strategies implemented by MNC's. Also I had to go through various case studies of prominent MNC's. It was really fun as well as learning at the same time.

At Dehradun Hills Academy, I had a different experience about academics that transcended traditional methods, emphasizing personalized learning tailored to each student's needs. This approach not only deepened my understanding but also fueled my passion for knowledge. Beyond academics, I was entrusted with responsibilities that nurtured my leadership skills. I took on the role of guiding younger students, imparting valuable lessons in sportsmanship, discipline, and etiquette. Through mentoring, I discovered the joy of empowering others and contributing to the school's close-knit community. As days turned into weeks, My apprehensions faded, replaced by a sense of belonging. The friendships I cultivated became my anchor, providing support through challenges and celebrating triumphs together. From sharing meals in the dining hall to late-night study sessions, every moment reinforced the bonds that bound me to my newfound family.

In the serene hills of Dehradun, I found more than just a school; I discovered a second home where every experience, whether academic or extracurricular, contributed to my holistic development. As I look ahead to the journey that lies ahead, I cherish the memories made and eagerly anticipate the adventures yet to come.
